How Scene 12 was filmed

 The way we decided to film scene 12 was in the same location as the first scene. The young version of Tyler sat at a desk and the D.A.R.E. officer was in the front of the room. A close up shot of him clapping to get the student's attention started the scene, and then changed to a close up of the student. After he starts listening, the shots rotated between him and the D.A.R.E. officer.

A note about the officer:

We used a real D.A.R.E. officer for this part, so he was not a real actor and had never been in front of the camera. Because of this it was difficult for him to memorize the lines and not look at the camera. Some shots we had to scrap because he looked directly at the camera.
